Zanze: Cilla Black

Cilla Black was a lorra laughs

Queen of Saturday telly

Proud, jovial, but never crass

As as beautiful as Grace Kelly.

Cilla Black was a lor

Of fun, and her singing

Was divine, wanting more

Cilla left you grinning.

Cilla Black was

A Saturday

Sensation lost

It’s hard to say.

Cilla

May now have passed

But her memory thrills

Cilla Black was a lorra laughs.

Sonnet: Science-Fiction

I would rather it were science-fiction,

Than painfully, profound reality.

I cannot believe that the world if free,

When Poverty, seems like an addiction.

Living from one pay-check to the next one,

Is a societal sickness. Disagree?

When Rent over Food is necessity.

How can one plan for what is to come?

Recklessly destroyed resources now rare

Ready revolutionary replacements

Because soon fossil-fuels will disappear

And all that will be left is displacement.

Our children will not thank us for failure,

Or for repeated, reckless behaviour.

Zanze: Forgive

Forgive those who trespass against

You must not ignore the word of

God ignored is a God incensed

With incandescent rage, like love.

Forgive those who trespass

And interrupt your life

For no amount of mass

Can undo a used knife.

Forgive those who

Do not forgive

Plans which fall through

Rather than live.

Forgive

And you are due

A life you will outlive,

Forgive those who trespass against.
