Senryu – Censorship
What words won’t you use
When they are taken from you,
will you fight for them?

Today I am taking part in my third poetry marathon, an annual event in which poets from around the world come together writing one poem per hour for 24 hours using a variety of written and visual prompts.
Hour 6 and I hate to admit, if even just to myself, but I’m feeling tired. I knew I’d have a headache before long, but at the beginnings of hour 6 had to take two paracetamol (something I very rarely do) and have staved off the worst of a steadily worsening headache from so much screen-time.
The prompt itself was interesting, and the poem it helped produce is of a very different tone than the rest of the poems so far. It is by far the silliest of the poems I have written today and the last line incorporates some Scots (which I love using when I can in poetry).
Cinquain – Walk
Don’t stop
move forward, slow
but steadily forward
as you reach your destination
reflect.

Senryu – Journey
One-step at a time
and soon you will move beyond
the place you started.
