Sonnet – I Wished

and all of the things I wished for came true;
I thanked God for showing me his mercy
but was aware that I still felt empty
as everything around me felt brand new.

From seeds, long since planted, nothing grew;
those to whom I gave my love desert me
as they each tried and failed to convert me
before deciding that our time was through.

I have tried without success to earn back
lost love which I could never call my own.
I am tired of this constant life attack;
it is time to see more than I am shown.

You may have it all, but you lose your view,
when all of the things you wish for come true.
